President William Howard Taft was the 27th President of the United States. But, was he any good? Although Taft is not a famous president (aside from the only thing that people actually remember him for), he did make some very important contributions to our country. Persistence and intelligence are two of the most important qualities of an effective president. President Taft had both of these qualities, and that is part of what made him an effective president.
